Samsung China has released two teaser videos suggesting the Galaxy S23 series will have improved low-light shooting and a higher resolution camera sensor. The official announcement of the new phones is expected to take place on February 1st, three weeks from now, during Samsung’s first live smartphone event since the pandemic began.
The three camera lenses seen in both teasers are likely representations of the primary, ultrawide, and telephoto cameras featured on the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus. Resolution that will “make you say wooow” and “megapixels that’ll make you say wooow” are among the promises made in a teaser. Camera.
All of the teasers line up with the expected improvements to smartphones this year. It has been speculated that the primary camera sensor on the most expensive Galaxy S23 Ultra will have a resolution of 200 megapixels. As much as 16 pixels’ worth of light could be combined into each pixel in the final image, which could improve low-light performance and boost detail with this sensor. Since Exynos has never been able to keep up with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon in terms of performance, the company plans to take its time developing a brand-new, high-powered processor for the market in 2025. The end goal is to be competitive with Apple, the current market leader.
But until then, we’ll have to buy chips from third-party vendors. A multi-year strategic partnership for chip distribution between Qualcomm and the South Korean powerhouse has been announced. Subsequently, the S23 lineup will include a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which is said to be more power- and thermal-efficient than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, especially at the GPU level. Qualcomm’s CFO Akash Palkhiwala has also confirmed this.
One Cortex-X3 Prime core will run at 3.36 GHz, two Cortex-A710 cores will run at 2.8 GHz, three Cortex-A510 cores will run at 2.0 GHz, and four Cortex-A715 cores will run at 2.8 GHz. This year, Qualcomm will use a 1+2+2+3 core configuration. This was also confirmed by the first Geekbench score for the Galaxy S23. The Galaxy S23 received 1524 points when tested on a single core and 4597 points when tested across multiple cores. Keep in mind that there is a special Qualcomm CPU version available for the S23.
Battery Strength
We were disappointed by the Galaxy S22’s battery life during our testing. The Galaxy S23 is Samsung’s chance to make amends. As was previously mentioned, each successive smartphone in the series is slightly bigger than its predecessor. The reduced footprint will allow the company to increase the capacity of the battery used in two of its products by an estimated 5 percent. The battery in the Galaxy S23 would be about 3900 mAh, which is an increase over the 3700 mAh in the Galaxy S22. The battery capacity of the Galaxy S23 + would be 4700 mAh, which is higher than the 4500 mAh capacity of the Galaxy S22 +.
